Info-engine is a Spirit funded project, led by PAVO, and administrated by a number of partner organisations including:

Powys County Council
Powys Agency for Mental Health

The project was initiated because of a need in the public and voluntary sector to provide and access information about community and voluntary sector groups. To date, this information had been held in a large number of different databases, with significant administrative overheads involved in each organisation holding and updating the data. The quality of the data was often poor and inaccurate due to the administrative overheads of maintaining the information.

Info-engine seeks to provide a facility whereby voluntary / community groups are able to publish their information in an easily accessible and usable web site. The system is designed in a way that ensures data integrity, by way of an automated update facility meaning that out of date information is not displayed. The responsibility for the integrity of the information is devolved to individual organisations whose details are displayed on the system, increasing its accuracy and decreasing the administrative overheads associated with such a large database.
